American health care isn't too hot. ( I'm being polite ) It's one thing to try and recover from a gun shot, it's another to have to worry about the hugely excessive medical bills that may destroy your life anyway. David Pirkola is a comics retailer who got shot shot while being robbed at his store last weekend. As with the case of Josh Medors and his cancer struggle, please give a little if you can.

Cleaning out my hard drive, and don't remember posting these up ( well, for a long while I couldn't ) But you may have seen these in various 30 Days of Night books around when the movie came out.

This here is Zurial. The visual is different to the Zurial I had named in the comic pitch vamp pinups I originally did, but at least the name made it in! And John was an awesome bloke, disturbingly suited to being a vamp.

He is THE Zurial, so it's his version that is in 30 Days of Night: Red Snow.

for those who check out my livejournal ( as opposed to blogger or myspace or actually reading this on my main templesmith.com website ) I've disabled ( I hope! ) the loudtwitter feed as if I post too much on twitter ( yes, you can follow my daily ranting/happenings as I work via: www.twitter.com/templesmith if so inclined ) it can get a bit overwhelming and muffle the actual posts. So will keep the blogs strictly for err, bloggings from now on.

Work deadlines currently killing me, though caffeine is my friend. My bestest bestest friend. More images soon, just wish I could post substantially what I actually for the most part *am* working on, but that'd spill the beans too soon...but snippets will come shortly when I can. Welcome to Hoxford should have some stuff worth showing in the coming days.

Gene Simmons is apparently appearing at a 7/11 two doors down from my house. With what appear to be a compliment of Swiss milk maids. I'm not sure why...

While dealing with the general deadline insanity that is my life and putting DVD's on in the background, I finally realized the final parts of the Matrix Revolutions movie do indeed look beautiful ( the battle at the dock ) and that the bloody people in Cloverfield have to be the unluckiest people on Manhattan Island to have a 30 story monster seemingly follow them about half the time. The extras on the dvd were nice though.

The Art of Wormwood

Yep, it's coming...August I think, but am half asleep so don't quote me on that as yet.

Figured I'd show this since me boss made this cover live on his blog already ( oh how Mr Ryall hates it when I call him "boss", though to me it's a term of affection!...it's like the man wishes to actually appear like a human being or something and not an overseer! ) Nonetheless he is an awesome boss man, along with Ted Adams at IDW Publishing.

The Art of Wormwood should be jam packed with a bunch of unpublished material, along with all the covers that have ever been, a new short story just for the book and probably a few other surprises.

EDIT: Did I mention there's going to be an extremely low number uber rare signed sketched edition? Well, there will be.

I also watch a load of DVD's, online docos and such as I work. Had the good fortune to see There Will be Blood yesterday, as it magically appeared in the mail for me on DVD. ( yes I am slow I missed it at the cinema ). Damn it was good. Will say that one of the deleted scenes should have been in the damn movie though. Really added some context to a couple things.

Next up I will be having some deadline near death experiences...so if you don't see an update for a little while, this is why. I'll try though.

Eisner and Eagle award nominations.

It appears the gods of good fortune have again decided for the fourth year in a row to flip some of their spare change my way, and I've been nominated for an Eisner Award in the Best Painter or Multimedia Artist (interior art) catagory for my work on WORMWOOD: GENTLEMAN CORPSE, FELL and 30 DAYS OF NIGHT: RED SNOW. Not going to win up against the great artists also there, but it's an honor to even be in the mix.

And also got a nom for the Eagle awards, from the UK, also in the painted art catagory. ( For them you can directly vote via the link, but no, I won't tell you who to vote for...nudge nudge, wink wink etc )
